CFRE Fundraiser

Charles LaFond has been a fundraiser for an uninterrupted 42 years and is a Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE) a certificate awarded in 1989 when he was the Vice President for Financial Development at the YMCA of Greater Richmond raising $300,000 annually, a Kresge Grant of $500,000 and an $18 million capital campaign after which he left secular fundraising and entered the church and a priest and then a monk in the Episcopal Church. He wrote two books on fundraising while a Bishop’s Canon in New Hampshire and was on the Episcopal Church’s Executive Council from which he designed Project Resource, a training manual and program for Bishops to train their clergy in fundraising. He moved on to be the Canon Steward at St. John’s Cathedral in Denver, Colorado where he was a senior member of the clergy and raised funds for the cathedral. He left the church in 2017 to re-enter secular fundraising, raising funds for people experiencing homelessness in Albuquerque, New Mexico and currently for resources needed by aging seniors in Island County, Washington.
