Lord, God of all creation
help me to see that the things in my life
which seem dead and blown about
are part of the tumbling beauty of the world around and within me.
Help me to see that when Lent catches a blowing dead thing in mid-flight
in my life, that the arresting image of even sharp wire and dead weeds
can be a source of awe in your creation
and in our hearts.
Help me to see that Lent provides space in which to see what is rooted and what is tumbling
and to be peaceful with both.
And help me to be amazed that even the tumbleweed
has beauty when set against the larger picture of the pastures of my life
regardless if the suspension is by means of my life’s
barbed wire.
